I went to the grocery store with my son this evening and noticed a bin full of Hot Wheels cars, and so many of them looked cool enough that I had to take pictures of them. I mean, wouldn’t you stop your chores for a few minutes if you found an Alpine A110 in a Hot Wheels bin?

Taking pictures instead of buying them is a smart move, I’ve been cutting down on my diecast habit by doing exactly this.

I would’ve bought a few for my son, but in his words, “where am I going to put them?”

Dang I want that Alpine. But I can imagine a child having that toy and asking, “Is that a real car? ”, and I’d have to tell them yes, and then he/she would say something like, “I’m going to own a real one someday,” and then I’d have to kneel down and explain to them the cold, hard truth of American import laws and watch that dream die.

My son was pretty excited when he found the Model S in the pile. OTOH, he didn't seem particularly interested in the Alpine, chuckled when he saw the Ford truck, and acted completely oblivious to the Vulcan. Apparently Teslas are the hot shit among middle schoolers these days.

But they will be an adult, a college grad with a good paying job in 25 yrs. So, it is possible.

I suppose that’s true. Then I can tell them, “When I was your age, these were illegal!”

I dig into the Hot Wheels bin every chance I get.I wonder if the ladies look @ me and think i'm a big kid and I need to grow up.Nonetheless it does not stop me from digging and purchasing a few for my collection.

That's why I only dig through the Hot Wheels pile when accompanied by a child. Or during the holiday season. Or when there's no one around to see.

So many good finds! Like Jonathan I bet people look at me like I’m getting toys for my kids or I’m just a big goofy kid.

Digging through the bins and on the pegs has been part of my life for several years. I’m just a big kid, I know. It’s really enjoyable. I’m 57 now and ain’t slowing down.

I am a Constable in Paris, Texas. I have been using Hot Wheels instead of stickers to give to children for over a year now. The community response has been outstanding with donations that total over 2200 cars. Hot Wheels cars last forever, apposed to stickers that last for minutes. #HillsHotWheels #HotWheelsCop #Hotwheels #Matel
